The World of Manfred Eigner

After some internal training I was placed at a research department active in the field of unconventional oil recovery techniques. Early 1973 Shell requested me to take up an operational job in Nigeria, where I resided with the family for the next 6 years. With sufficient operational experience I returned to Rijswijk E&P research dealing with various topics: water & emulsion treatment, steam injection, rock-fluid interaction. In 1987 I accepted a job in Shell training as a lecturer on Production Chemistry subjects: Well Engineering and Production Operations. In 1993 I accepted again an operational job, but now in Aberdeen (Scotland) as a team leader being responsible for all well fluid operations for Shell UK. In 1998 I retired to Rijswijk as a team leader of a fluids research group (rock-fluid impairment) for the next 4 years.   On November 30th   2001 after 40 years and 3 months of service I retired from Shell. MECS was founded immediately and has been active ever since. Details of projects undertaken and completed are shown elsewhere.
In 1948 my parents moved to Holland from the by the Russian Army occupied part of Austria. I was then at the age of 5. After the secondary school I applied for a job with the Shell Amsterdam Laboratories (1961). After some 15 months I requested for a transfer to the Rijswijk E&P laboratories. During the next 3 years I completed a degree in Chemistry and Physics equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree at the university of Leiden.
